❤❤Reading has recently become my escape and my passion in life. I love romance of all kinds as long as there is an HEA at some point❤❤
Boy, Kristen Ashley is a fantastic story teller! This is only my second KA book and I plan to catch up on all her series' ASAP. There are plenty of reviews and I'm kind of late to the KA party so I'll keep this short…
What I liked:
*Alec/Colt: super sexy, alpha, bad ass….umm yes please!
*February: Kick-ass, witty, intelligent heroine…thank God!
*A wacky supporting cast of characters that kept things funny, interesting, and unconventional…loved them all :D
*The suspense element was carried out perfectly throughout the story, so many authors really screw up romantic suspense…KA is a master at it!
*Well thought out plot twists…what a roller coaster!!
*Loved the Purdue references :) Go Boilers!!
What I didn't like:
*Too long: I often found myself wondering…do I need this much descriptive detail about things that don't seem to be important to the story?? No, I think not!
*Steam factor: I was definitely disappointed by the sexy, or lack there of… I was anticipating much steamier scenes based on how highly rated KA books are. Hoping they get better as the series goes on :D
Well holy hot damn that was a scorcher!! One of the steamiest, sexiest, dirty mouthed, books I have read in a while….totally LOVED IT!
Jax is absolutely topping my book boyfriend list for Sept; a smart, sexy, tattooed bad boy with heart! No jerky, ass-hole, alpha’s here, which I normally find extremely appealing, but didn’t mind it’s absence one bit in this book.
My Jax: Lexi was just ok for me, I kind of got frustrated with her at times her being so worried about her image was just stupid, but I did really appreciate the honesty and genuineness of her character and the dialogue shared between her and Jax. No games, no miscommunications, no juvenile behavior...Just pure panty-melting romance. The author did a great job pulling off the insta-love between Jax and Lexi.
Insta-love is not easy to swing in non-PNR books but whatever she did totally worked! The entire airport/texting scene set up the entire book perfectly. This is a great book if you are in a slump and need a re-boot! HEA and No cliffhanger!!!
4 Stars! Best of the series for me:) Ash was more my speed of Dom. Possessive and alpha without being too controlling, arrogant, or egotistical. His dominance didn't overwhelm to the point of being a turn-off like Gabe and Jace in this series. He came off as super sexy and sweet with just the right amount of dark edge making the perfect alpha! Josie was much more independent than most h's in this type of D/s storyline which I greatly appreciated.
****A solid 3.5 stars****Brady was just the perfect combination of brooding, quiet, yet sexy alpha-male…Lila was sweet and sensitive, but also strong and independent. Best yet…the development of their story/relationship was organic and believable!! No crazy, over dramatized, insta-love or angst to be found here. Real-life problems and real-life adults working through them and finding love in the process…I know right, crazy concept for a romance novel!! The steam factor was just perfect considering this was a light read with little drama..
Definitely continuing this series:)
***3.5 Stars***Ok, I am little conflicted on this one. To be honest, I really did not like Gabe throughout the first 75-80% of the book. He was rude, arrogant, and overbearing. Don't get me wrong, I love sexy, alpha-males, but this guy was just plain old mean sometimes. Mia was not as weak and submissive as some of the h's in these BDSM plot lines, so for that I was grateful. Jace, Mia's brother, and Ash, Gabe & Jace's business partner and best friend; were very sweet and sexy, offering a welcome reprieve from the intensity of Gabe and Mia's story/dialogue. The last 20-25% completely saved this book for me and is the only reason I will continue the series. I wish there was more of a gradual softening of Gabe towards Mia throughout the story. Gabe's emotional transition from cold and uncaring to "I can't breathe with out you", was a little sharp and fast for me, but once he got there, I did finally like him!! On to Fever...Jace's story looks really good ❤❤
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This booked has left me with the biggest, goofiest grin ever :D Everything about the story and the characters made me deliriously happy! I was not expecting this to be the lovely little gem that it turned out to be, but am ecstatic that it was. Logan and Kit were absolutely perfect....womanizing, tattooed, bad boy meets a tough, sexy girl and wham...love at first site (or love at first punch!) Both Logan and Kit struggle with disabilities that make communication difficult but with the help of Logan's four hot brothers, they manage to forge a steadfast bond filled with trust, friendship, and drool worthy, off-the-charts sexual tension ;) Although, there was a bit of insta-love going on here, I jumped right on board with their amazing connection. It was sweet, sexy, and heartfelt with just the right amount of drama. There was a slight cliffy, but is more of a continuation and segway into book two....can't wait :)
Sadly this was a miss for me:( I thought the plot was great and it was well written, but I just couldn't get past Ava and her immature over-reaction to every situation. I had to continually remind myself that these were the actions of a twenty-two year old but I just could not tolerate her irrational and whiney behavior most of the time. I thought Jasper was sweet and sexy and will probably continue the series because of him.
